Halloween, aka the spooky-lover’s Christmas, can often come with a lot of stress and pressure due to all the decision making and creative efforts that go into it

Sadly, since the best aspect of Halloween – the good ol’ days of trick-or-treating – are no longer a viable option for most of us (sorry age restrictions, but I will never NOT want those king-size Kit-Kat bars from a random neighbor), costumes and costume parties are where it’s at now. It is truly best celebrated when you coordinate costumes with others and make it an ~ensemble~ rather than a solo venture.

We have come up with 12 fun and easy couples costumes that you can replicate with your significant other, best friend, child, or any other favorite noteworthy person in your life. The options range from low-key makeup looks to fun movie characters to timeless duos. Scroll through the options to find the one that speaks to your relationship the best, and have fun encompassing yourselves into these personalities!

1. Andie and Duckie from Pretty in Pink

Starting off with the most adorable celeb couple and their even more adorable costume, we absolutely love the simple, yet iconic embodiment of these BFFs from the cult classic Pretty in Pink. It’s a great couple or friend costume, and is easy to replicate! For Andie, you just need a short red hair wig and flowy pink dress, and for Duckie, a simple fedora, bolo tie and some layered sweaters with a blazer!

2. Shaggy and Scooby Doo

Speaking of Daphne and Fred, there likely isn’t a more classic comic duo than Shaggy and Scooby. You can totally wear this costume as a couple, friends, with your child, your pet… the list goes on! To replicate this symbiotic pet/owner bond, you just need a solid green Tshirt with brown pants for Shaggy. For Scooby, you could definitely go all-out with a whole official Scooby Doo suit, but if you want to keep it a bit more low-key, we recommend a brown sweater with matching pants/skirt and socks, a dog-ear headband, green choker necklace, and some simple face paint!

3. The Flintstones

Another easy-to-replicate and iconic couples look: Fred and Wilma Flintstone. This stone-age couple ended up ironically being quite timeless, which is something that we’ve noticed is also the case for this costume. To achieve Wilma’s look, you could opt for a red wig to match the cartoon, or like we see here, just simply toss your hair up in a top knot and get a solid white skirt that can be cut into zig-zags at the bottom with a matching crop top. For Fred, you can easily find a branded costume, or go a slightly more voguish route (like pictured) with a faux-fur getup!

4. Meredith Grey and Cristina Yang from Grey’s Anatomy

This is one of the easiest couples looks to replicate with your BFF (coming from someone who literally did just that junior year of college). Get ready to wholeheartedly dance the night away with your bestie in scrubs (with some tequila possibly involved – if you know you know). A super inexpensive option is to go to your local thrift shop for finding some matching blue scrubs, but they are also easily available online and at your favorite big-box stores. Having fun accessorizing with fake beepers, name tags, stethoscopes, and/or some surgical masks, and you are good to go!

5. Retro Pilot and Flight Attendant

A post shared by Cindy Crawford (@cindycrawford) on Oct 28, 2018 at 5:10am PDT

When I first saw the photo of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber in their chic retro airline ensembles, my jaw literally dropped (yes, to the ground). This is a couple that can do absolutely no wrong with ANY of their looks, and Halloween is no exception. It makes me want to drink all the Casamigos while listening to The Supremes as I stare out at sparkly city views through the plane window, but I digress. For a Cindy-inspired look, opt for an A-line minidress with patent leather tall boots, a name tag, and a lovely little pillbox hat. For Rande’s look, guys can just dig up their favorite dark-colored suit with a tie, pilot’s hat, and some classic aviators.

6. Gomez and Morticia Addams

A post shared by Sophie Turner (@sophiet) on Oct 31, 2018 at 10:47pm PDT

I know I claimed Sarah and Freddie to be the most adorable celeb couple, but these two definitely tie for that title. In this Halloween look, they show their darker side by emulating the best creepy-chic pair to ever grace our screens. Also, all-black looks are so fun to play with, so the pieces you find could certainly be used for many other looks later on (Halloween, or not)! For Gomez, you’ll need a pinstripe blazer and pants, fake mustache, and a fake hand “Thing.” For Morticia, you can find a long-sleeved black maxi dress with a slit (that you could also add in yourself), a long black wig, some bold eyeshadow, and bright red lipstick. There are endless ways to play around with her character by adding in various props as well.

7. Joyce and Hopper from Stranger Things

And now for the most popular current TV show that people love finding Halloween ideas from! We love this will-they-or-won’t-they pair, and this is definitely one of those couples looks that can easily be achieved by stuff you already have hidden somewhere in your wardrobe. To get Joyce’s look, all you need is an orange tee with a flannel shirt tied around your waist, and for Hopper, some light-wash denim with a Hawaiian shirt (and of course, a big ol’ fake mustache).

8. Matching Half-Face Skull Makeup

For all the couples who feel the Halloween spirit, but don’t want to deal with any of the fuss of buying a whole outfit for a night, this one’s for y’all. To start off, just put on your favorite all-black outfit. Now for a dose of creativity, use some white and black face paint and paint opposite halves of your faces as fun skeletons, sugar skulls, or anything similar so that it creates the whole “two parts of a whole” look! People will 100 percent applaud your innovation and edginess.

9. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip

These two — always on top of their costumes every single time Halloween rolls around. America’s favorite couple dressed as Britain’s Favorite couple last year, and it came to be a costume as timeless as they are. To get Queen Elizabeth’s look, opt for a trademark monochromatic outfit with a buttoned coat, matching hat, purse, gloves, and a curly hairdo. For Prince Philip, you can find his red embellished, medallion-decorated coat online, and just need to pair it with some black pants!

10. Toni Topaz and Cheryl Blossom from Riverdale

Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and Archie might get all the attention when it comes to common couples costumes, but if you want to step it up and take on the most fun personas from this show, Toni Topaz and Cheryl Blossom are where it’s at. This coupling has become a fan favorite quite fast, so if there’s a time to dress up as them, it’s now! To get Toni’s look, you’ll need a cool black leather jacket with dark jeans, heeled ankle boots, and some pink faux hair extensions, and for Cheryl’s look, opt for an all-black or all-red (or a combo of them) look with thigh-high boots and the brightest red lipstick you can find.

11. Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs

These famed tennis players were known by generations before us, but really got their popularity back with the Battle of the Sexes film that came out in 2017, appealing to mass audiences and younger crowds as well. It’s a really fun couples look to take on with the retro athletic getups from the ‘70s. To make achieving this look as easily as possible, you’ll need a miniskirt and matching top for Billie’s tennis outfit (made complete with an old-school pair of eyeglass frames), and for Bobby, basically the same idea, except with shorts and a collared shirt. Grab some tennis racket props, and you’ll be set!

12. Sherlock Holmes and Watson

Now here’s a truly timeless duo that would be so much fun to copy for Halloween (especially if you talk with English accents all night long to really take it to the next level – I so would). Sherlock and Watson, the investigating twosome have featured fashion ensembles from the 19th to the 21st century over the years of their existence, so essentially, the options are limitless. However, to get the look for the more newer versions of these characters, you can pull ideas from the BBC show Sherlock and easily find pieces to class up any party. For Sherlock, dress in a sharp outfit made complete by a long overcoat and wool scarf, and for his pal Watson, a patterned shirt tucked into pants with a utility jacket to top it off!

13. Mary Poppins and Bert

A classic costume made relevant again by Mary Poppins Returns, Mary Poppins and Bert are the original #couplegoals. Utilize your white button-up and go-to black skirt, and add a hat and umbrella to complete the look. Have your S.O. mimic the dirty look of a chimney sweep by using one of your old beauty blenders to dab black eyeshadow around his face, and dress in a blazer and button-up.

14. Jules and Rue from Euphoria

One of 2019’s hottest pop culture moments (and sure to be one of Halloween’s most popular costumes,) Jules and Rue from Euphoria are a duo that are easy to mimic. Break out a tube top and Hawaiian shirt (no shame if you have to borrow one from your dad), and have your counterpart dress in pastel purple, complete with a plaid skirt.

15. Roger and Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie

Happy birthday to my nonobear @nolangould!!!!! I can’t believe you’re in your 20s now. I’m ☠️

There are few costumes cuter than a classic genie costume, and you can make it couple-appropriate with by paying tribute to the TV classic, I Dream of Jeannie. Get a genie costume for yourself (preferably in pink), and have your S.O. dress in uniform — you won’t be able to keep your hands off each other all night.

16. Troop Beverly Hills

Gonna post this every year because it’s my favorite costume ever. There’s no better mother daughter duo than Phyllis and Hannah Nefler. 😆Not a day that goes by that I don’t think of a line from #troopbeverlyhills! 🍪 Super easy too for those of you who are “costume creativity challenged” as myself! Just find anything beige at the thrift store and get green berets and socks on amazon! 😁

We love this costume for being out-of-the-box, and it’s perfect to execute in either a couple or a group. Dress in head-to-toe beige and Amazon prime you and your partner each a green beret for a simple, adorable costume.

We’re suckers for a family costume, and this one is as cute as they come. Buy yourself a yellow dress, DIY a paper shirt for your S.O. out of a plain white tee, and pick your baby up a pink onesie. It’s a DIY dream, and is a fool-proof way to turn out as cute as can be.

A flapper is usually thought of as a solo last-minute costume, but it can easily be turned into a couple’s costume too. Wear a beaded dress and feathered headband, and have your man don a trench and hat for an easy, adorable costume.
