Salicylic Acid Peel & Other Chemical Peels You Can Use At Home

Salicylic acid peel is pretty popular to use for at-home chemical peeling, but did you know there are other chemical peels you can use at home too?

Understandably, it might seem like chemical peel treatments can be a little scary to do by yourself. This is why we’ve listed down some of the things you can use.

Chemical Peels Safe to Use at Home Important Notes About Chemical Peels
When using chemical peels at home please take note that because of the abrasive nature of the product it may still cause irritation and sensitivity. This is why it’s important to educate yourself about it.

Basically, there are three varieties of chemical peels. Please take note that deep peeling agents or those of higher strength is reserved for professionals and licensed practitioners.

There are two categories of chemical peel agents that consumers can buy over the counter:

1. Superficial Peel Agents

This includes low-strength chemical peeling products. They exfoliate the outer layer of the skin and do not penetrate too deeply. Best suited for mild discoloration and rough texture. Examples of these are your salicylic acid peels, glycolic acids, lactic acids, and enzyme peels.

If you feel your skin does not need a lot of maintenance and is normally easy to manage with a few discolorations, you’ll really only have to reach for these types of chemical peel agents.

2. Medium Peel Agents

It is the type where the chemical penetrates deeper into the dermis or the second layer or the skin. Used to treat melasma or even other moderate discoloration, wrinkles, and fine lines. High percentage Glycolic Acid falls into this category including TCAs.

So now that you have a little background about chemical peels, let’s check out these items you can use for your at home chemical peel.

3. Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari Babyfacial Mask ($80)

One of the milder peels out there comes in a mask variant. A 25% AHA/ 2% BHA with a pH level 3.5. Generally, chemical peels are at an effective pH level of 2 anything slightly higher than that makes it less acidic. Fewer acidity renders the peel milder because it affects the pool of active ingredients available to do the work.

It also contains a combination of antioxidants and skin-loving natural formula to help lessen redness and skin sensitivity.

Drunk Elephant came to fame due to its no-frills products. They are packaged to perfection taking consideration of the needs of its consumers.
4. Dermalogica Rapid Reveal Peel ($85) Dermalogica Rapid Reveal Peel Photo by Sephora
A combination of AHA, lactic acid, and plant enzymes is what makes this peel effective. It promises to reveal firmer skin reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
